Great Entry-Level Camera December 28, 2008 Connecticut Consumer (Stamford, CT) Prior to purchasing this unit, I did a fairly exhaustive internet search of user-reviews of entry-level digital cameras. Since this is my first digital camera, the most important factors for me were ease-of-use and overall user-friendliness. On both those counts, I can say the unit performs remarkably well. My wife, who is very much a non-techie, has had no trouble using the camera for taking pictures of her eBay merchandise. Clarity and resolution are very good. And the camera interfaces fairly seamlessly with the included Kodak software and Kodak Gallery. Battery life also seems remarkably good. It would have been nice, though, if Kodak had included even a simple cloth carrying case. The only reason I didn't give the camera five stars was because of the difficulty viewing subject matter outdoors with the LCD viewfinder, especially in bright sunlight. The glare makes it almost impossible to see your subject. In fairness, though, this seems to be a problem with LCD viewfinders in general, not just Kodak's. But overall, it's a great little camera.
Great little camera! Ordering 2nd one today! December 23, 2008 C. Lucas (Virginia) Love this camera. I have one that I bought about 6 mos. ago and I am getting ready to buy a 2nd one. My husband uses the 1st one all the time and he likes it because its compact. I like it cause I can carry it around in my purse and use it whenever I want. It takes awesome pictures....I haven't had but a few pictures that didn't turn out...but that was me taking a crappy picture. This will be my 4th Kodak camera. I don't know what people keep talking about the LCD screen being hard to see...In certain lighting conditions ALL camera lcd's are hard to see. I have Canon Rebel XSI and it's the same problem. If the light is really bright and/or really dim they are all hard to see at times. This doesn't bug me. Its just a known fact that this is problem. It really disturbs me that people give it a bad rap for just that problem. The bottom line...It takes really good pictures and its easy to use. Thats all that really matters to me...
Great Camera So Far December 22, 2008 N. T. Evans (Dacula, GA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Purchased this camera in November (2008) and so far it has been a great camera. Battery lastes long. It is easy to operate. The software is the best...even better than the Canon software from my wife's camera. I wanted to support an American company (with the economic conditions) so I bought a Kodak and have been very pleased.
Good Quality Camera December 21, 2008 Molly R. Solomon (Austin, TX) This camera works really well. I have not had any issues with is since purchasing it a few months ago. Its compact and the battery lasts a long time. You can charge it with a USB to AC adapter using the camera cord, which is nice. The lense can take some pressure on it as that tends to happen, no issues with scratching. All around good camera for the price.
Decent budget camera. Easy to use. December 6, 2008 D. Hentze (Staten Island via NJ) I needed a camera for a gift for a 9 year old girl, so it had to not be a toy, easy to use, good quality, and stylish to her. The pink M863 fits the bill. It takes decent pictures. It seems well built. The functions are well laid out, and easy to use. She has no problem downloading the pictures to her computer with the EasyShare software. She is very happy with it. Judging from the results of pictures taken in various conditions, it seems to take good, but not great pictures under most circumstances. All in all, it's a good camera for those on a budget.
